January Meeting: “Plants of the Chihuahuan Desert”
On Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 10:30 a.m., invited speaker Michael Eason will join members of the Highland Lakes Birding and Wildflower Society to focus attention on the geographic area where he has been researching and photographing plants extensively over the past two years. These efforts form the basis for Eason’s soon-to-be-published book, A Field Guide to the Plants of the Trans-Pecos. He will share information about common, uncommon and rare plants that he encountered during this time. Some of these plants are botanical treasures, having been rarely or even never before photographed. Eason will weave in stories of pollinator biology, seed dispersal, unusual facts and trivia about the plants of the Trans-Pecos region. He will include entertaining stories from “in the field” while tracking down unusual and hard-to-find plants in a remote part of the state.
