Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge (various locations; refuge comprises multiple parcels of land)
Headquarters is located off RR 1431 east of Marble Falls and FM 1174 between Bertram and Smithwick. The refuge is home to the golden-cheeked warbler and black-capped vireo. There are also great hiking trails available.

Good parking and easy walking; on Backbone Creek near Lake Marble Falls.

Citizen Science Opportunities
eBird.org: International group documenting information about birds around the world, using individual observations entered on the internet. eBird provides training in identifying birds. eBird and its app are free.
iNaturalist.org: Allows participants to enter data on plants, animals, insects, and birds. iNaturalist also helps users to identify observations. Participants can join Projects, which allows data to be used for specific research. iNaturalist and its app are free.
TexasInvasives.org: Interested individuals are trained on how to monitor and report observations of invasive species in Texas that pose significant economic, agricultural and/or human health threats.
Both eBird and iNaturalist provide on-line training on how to get the most out of participation.
