“The World of Lichens,” Trinity Forks Chapter, NPSOT

Dr. Dal Forno will speak about lichens, which are complex symbiotic units comprising a fungal partner, a green algal and/or a cyanobacterial partner, and a diverse community of microorganisms. Lichens are present in most terrestrial ecosystems and are a main nutritional strategy in Fungi. Despite being classic examples of symbioses, relatively little is known about lichens, which makes them an important target for future research. Please visit this page of NPSOT’s website for specific information about how to access this FREE online event. No registration is required. Also, there will be time provided at 6:30 p.m. for socializing. A brief business meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the presentation will follow immediately after that.
