Texas City Nature Challenge 2023

This friendly competition has grown into an international event! The City Nature Challenge is a citizen science project with areas of observation associated with major cities. In our area, observations can be counted towards the Greater Austin Area. The goal is to see which city can gather the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people in the event. Participation is easy!! Go outside during the Challenge period, from April 28 to May 1, 2023, and photograph the wild plants, birds and other wildlife you see. Then record your observations in iNaturalist. That’s it! Here is the link to an FAQ about the City Nature Challenge. In Texas, the event is coordinated by the Texas Nature Trackers program of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
