“Raptors of the Rios: Ecology of the Riparian Obligate Birds of Prey in the Trans Pecos,” TPWD

Dr. Clint Boal, professor of wildlife ecology at Texas Tech, will deliver a FREE online presentation hosted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), as part of TPWD’s Wildlife Diversity Webinar Series. He will talk about the raptor species in the Trans Pecos region of Texas that are dependent upon riparian ecological systems for nesting and foraging habitat. Three of these are identified by the state as threatened species. Dr. Boal, who has been studying them since 2018, will provide information on the distribution, comparative nesting ecology, habitat, and productivity of multiple raptor species in Jeff Davis, Brewster, and Presidio Counties. He also will present data from a GPS-based study of zone-tailed hawks, providing previously unknown information regarding the species’ home range size, migration, and winter range.
