“Milkweed and Floral Resource Availability for Monarchs in the US,” NPSOT

Staff members Jennifer Thieme & Sarah Gomes, with Monarch Joint Venture, will share findings from eight years’ worth of studies that utilize the Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program (IMMP) to survey monarchs and their habitat. The presenters will summarize habitat metrics for over a thousand sites, covering much of the monarch’s breeding range. They will explore variation in milkweed density and floral resource availability across geographic regions and land uses. Then the speakers will take a more focused dive into California, where Monarch Joint Venture teams have surveyed several Bureau of Land Management sites for monarchs and milkweed. Please register for this event via the link provided here. [This event is one of a monthly series scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of each month.]
