“Microbes & Healthy Soil,” Clear Lake Ch., NPSOT

Michael LaMontagne, from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, will present “Bioprospecting the Plant Microbiome to Improve the Yield and Sustainability of Agriculture.” He articulates a significant world problem: current agricultural practices combined with the effects of climate change mean that the developed world will be faced with unprecedented famine by 2050. The yield per acre must double by 2050 to avert this crisis. One component of a solution to this problem is found in microbes. That’s right - bacteria.
