HLBWS Monthly Meeting: “Rare Plants of Central Texas”

  • AgriLife Extension Service Building 607 North Vandeveer Street Burnet, TX, 78611 United States (map)

Anna Strong, a Rare Species Botanist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), will explain what it means for a plant to be on the Species of Greatest Conservation Need, or SGCN, list at HLBWS’s October meeting. Ms. Strong will focus on some of the rare plants that are native to the Llano Uplift and greater Central Texas region, and what we can do to help these plants continue to exist.

HLBWS holds its meetings on the first Thursday of each month from September through June. Plans for the morning include an 8:00 a.m. bird walk at Haley Nelson Park, weather permitting, and some social time at 9:30 a.m. at the AgriLife building. Our business meeting will commence at 10:00 a.m. and our invited speaker will begin to present at approximately 10:30 a.m.
