“Crossroads of the Eclipses: How Plants and Dark Skies are Connected in the Texas Hill Country,” Fredericksburg Ch., NPSOT

  • St. Joseph’s Halle 212 West San Antonio Street Fredericksburg, TX, 78624 United States (map)

Dawn Davies, with the Hill Country Alliance, will talk about the connections between dark skies and plants. Specifically, the upcoming eclipse in spring 2024 is expected to draw tens of thousands of people to the Texas Hill Country, right when spring migratory birds and wildflowers will be most abundant. The goal is to mitigate the adverse impact of throngs of people on the natural world. Ms. Davies is coordinator of the Hill Country Eclipse Team, which is a collaboration among community- and county-based task forces mobilized to help prepare for the solar eclipses.
